This unique necklace is made with a round disc of rare cherry amber this is carved on one side with a dragon and on the other side of the god of longevity.  It can be worn with either side facing forward.  The carving is raised and the disc is 2 inches in diameter.  If you hold it up to the light you will see the beautiful cherry amber color. I have topped it with a beautiful glass lamp work bead that has a lot of the cherry amber color in it.  The disc and glass bead are suspended from a black natural leather cord that adjusts from 15 inches to 30 inches so it can be worn a variety of lengths.

The dragon is the imperial emblem of the Emperors in China, especially from the from the Han period where their coat of arms shows two dragons fighting for the fiery pearl.  The dragon is a supernatural creature and is the symbol of power, strength, wisdom and goodness.  It represents the utmost in accomplishment: good luck and a successful life. It is also believed to be the guardian of hidden treasures.  It represents the spirit of growth and change.

One of the gods of good fortune, the God of longevity happiness and wealth, Fukurokuju or Shou-xing , is symbolic of  a long and healthy life.  Legend has it that Shou-xing lives in a palace at the South Pole surrounded by a garden of aromatic herbs.  He is often displayed in the home to promote good health and long life to the occupants.

Baltic amber which is millions of years old is the prehistoric fossilized resin of ancient pines often trapping the life of that time as it solidified creating a mini prehistoric map.  It has been used as ornamentation since the Stone Age.  It is symbolic of marriage, considered good luck and often given as a wedding gift. The Greeks believed amber was a kiss from the sun.
