This round disk of natural pale green jade has been carved with a raised frog on a lotus leaf and the money sign on one side.  The frog is a slightly darker green.  On the other side is a raised beetle and the money sign.  I have topped it with a beautiful glass lamp work bead by renown glass artist, Keith Kreitter,  that has some of the same pale green in it as well as some areas of very dark blue

The jade measures 1 3/4” in diameter.  It drops with the glass lamp work bead 2 1/4” from a black natural leather cord that is adjustable  from 16” to 32” so it can be worn a variety of lengths.

The frog, also known as the heavenly chicken, is symbolic of happiness, good luck, longevity and prosperity.  The frog is believed to promote pleasant dreams. It is an emblem of spring and abundant rain.  In Korea a having a dream of a frog is a sign that a son will be born.

The lotus, also known as the sea rose, is a symbol of purity, fruitfulness and creativity.   The beetle is symbolic of long life and immortality.  

Chinese royalty has worn jade for centuries.   It is believed to be a spiritual stone and has been called the jewel of heaven.  It represents the five principal virtues:  charity, modesty, courage, justice and wisdom.  From cloudy white to golden brown, light to dark green, to rare lavender, jade is the most highly prized Asian gemstone.  Jade has been regarded as the most precious stone for thousands of years.  It is believed to protect the wearer and ensure good luck and good health as well as to increase life span.
