This vintage Chinese glass perfume bottle is a raised blue design on a translucent white background. The design on the front is a pagoda with a stork taking off from a pine tree. On the back is a different design with a pagoda and a stork going fishing in water. The workmanship is beautiful. I have added a sterling silver collar around the top with a loop so it can be worn as a pendant necklace.
It is topped with a blue Indonesian glass bead. The bottle is 2 1/2” tall by 1 3/4” wide. With the glass bead on to it drops 3 1/4” from a black natural leather cord that is adjustable from 16” to 32” using slip knots so it can be worn a variety of lengths. The design is a traditional design. This is a gorgeous and unique piece as well as a bit of history that can be worn with either side facing forward. You can display it when you are not wearing it.
In Asian legends the stork is said to live 1,000 years. They are symbolic of longevity. The stork is frequently shown together with pine trees, also a symbol of longevity
The pine tree is a very common symbol for longevity because it is an evergreen tree and can live through bad weather conditions, especially winters, where the temperature is severe, as well as, through droughts.
